No Place for Kids tells the story of sisters Jennifer and Sarah, who were part of a happy, stable family until their mother’s death. Their father is unable to cope with his grief and the needs of his daughters, and starts to drink heavily. He loses his job and his grip on his family. Twelve-year-old Jennifer starts to develop a tough exterior. When she receives unwanted attention from one of her father’s drinking friends, she leaves with Sarah on a quest to find their aunt, who lives in Vancouver. Unfortunately, they run out of money in Regina and must cope on their own with fear, loneliness, illness, and the conflict inherent in being sisters.
